Sea Tow Membership Benefits - Boston Area

How does a Sea Tow Membership, outlined in the Membership Guide, pertain to a boater in the Boston, Mass Bay, North Shore and South Shore boating areas? Click on one of the following links to see a few local examples.

Note: For an in depth look at the Organizational Structure of Sea Tow, Membership Programs, Areas of Service, Contract Privileges, Definitions, Limitations and Reservations, please read the Membership Guide web page.

Homeport Towing:

Sea Tow Boston will get you home from farther away than any other towing company in the area. FREE! Here's how it works: As a Member of Sea Tow you are entitled to be towed to your home dock FREE!, not only from your local Sea Tow franchisee but also from any adjacent Sea Tow franchised territory. What does this mean to you? Many towing memberships say they are unlimited, but once you go beyond 25 miles you are paying. The power of our Sea Tow Network enables Sea Tow Boston members to cruise confidently, knowing they can get back to their home dock from almost 100 miles away in some cases. As an example: If for instance you dock or launch your boat between Newton or Watertown on the Charles River, we will tow you home FREE from far-away places like: Provincetown, Stellwagon Bank or even all the way from Portsmouth, NH or the Maine border. With the cost of hourly towing approaching $350.00 an hour, a tow from a faraway port can cost upwards of $3,000.00. Boaters who know --- choose Sea Tow!

Fuel Drops:

Run out of fuel and we'll bring you more, even if you're way off shore watching whales or fishing. There's no charge for the delivery, you just pay for the fuel. Safety, however, is a major consideration! If it is to rough to safely transfer fuel we'll just hook you up and tow you to a calmer spot, a fuel dock or even all the way home. FREE! There are very few gas stations out there. With commercial towers charging as high as $350 per hour, you really should be a Sea Tow member, shouldn't you?

Jump Starts:

Imagine that you've been drift fishing all morning with your VHF radio, stereo and depth finder on. You go to start your boat and... click, click, click, your battery is dead. If you're not a member it will cost you plenty just for a jump start. Don't worry! With Sea Tow jump starts are FREE! We'll be right there! Again, Safety is a major consideration! If it is to rough to safely come alongside your boat we'll just throw you a line and tow you to a calmer spot, or even all the way home if that's what it takes. FREE!

Disentanglements:

Anyone that has been in and out of the harbors in the Mass Bay area knows about lobster pot pickup buoys. They're everywhere, even in the channels! Look away for a minute and you can wrap one up on your underwater running gear. Your boat in essence becomes anchored to the bottom, stern to the wind and current, by your propeller or rudder. What do you do? Members just call Sea Tow! In about 95% of the cases we'll come out and untangle the mess right on the spot and get you quickly back on your way. In a few very rare cases, where it's to dangerous to deal with on scene or your running gear is very severely wrapped up, the Sea Tow Captain may elect for safety reasons to just cut the line freeing you from the bottom and then tow you to the safety of your home dock. In either case the service is FREE for Members!

Note: SCUBA divers, haulouts and repairs are not member covered services.

Covered Ungroundings:

Imagine your navigating the mouth of the Back River in Weymouth at low tide. Your distracted for a second and you wander just out of the channel into the soft mud. Your stuck! Just call Sea Tow ... we'll be right there! A covered vessel, soft aground, will be ungrounded at no charge. Please read the Membership Guide for the complete definition of "Covered Ungroundings". Vessels that are "Hard Aground" constitute a salvage situation and are usually and appropriately covered by the vessel's hull insurance policy.

Dock-To-Dock Towing:

In this part of the country many of us keep our boats at Marinas, Yacht Clubs and Mooring areas that don't have on-site repair facilities. If your boat becomes disabled at the dock the mechanic must come to you or your boat must go the the repair facility. No Problem! Just call Sea Tow! When you are a Member and your boat breaks down at your dock or marina, we'll set up an appointment to tow you to a boat ramp or a local repair facility. FREE! Other competing towing programs will only pay for half of a dock-to-dock tow, or not at all! Get the best coverage you can buy. Join Sea Tow today!
