March, 2003 - As a member of the Sea Tow Boston fleet since 2000 and having previously served the Miami, FL Fire Department and Sea Tow Fort Lauderdale, "Rescue 2", our 23 foot, center console Dusky, has undergone an extensive overhaul this past winter. The strong and durable Dusky was originally built and operated with a 330 hp Crusader, 454 cubic inch inboard engine. As such she was the only inboard vessel operated by Sea Tow Boston.

      In order to increase fuel efficiency, speed, maneuverability and interior room the inboard engine was replaced with twin 135 hp Evinrude Ficht outboards on a custom stern bracket. Sea Tow Boston has experienced great success using Evinrude Ficht direct injection outboard engines on all its other vessels and expects the same for the "RESCUE 2".

      Numerous other upgrades and changes were made to Rescue 2 including adding nearly one hundred gallons of fuel tankage and increasing her storage capabilities to carry two SCUBA tanks, a gasoline dewatering pump, and addition towing and salvage equipment. All of these improvements serve to make Rescue 2 more able to serve Sea Tow Members and customers.
